If you're going to be putting your things into a storage unit, then you want to be sure you pack everything in the best way possible. One of the things you need to consider is that each person may pack their storage units differently, depending on what they have to store, whether they are going to need to get things out of storage every now and again, and other factors. Storage facilities usually sell and rent packing materials and equipment on-site, which is convenient for those who rent storage units. The information here will offer a few tips on some packing supplies you may want to buy and how to use them in your storage unit in a way that's to your advantage. Here is more for you to read on this:

You should use boxes that are all the same size

You can usually purchase packing boxes at the storage facility. You can, and should, get boxes that are all the same dimensions. When you use boxes that are all the same size, it makes it easier for you to stack them on top of one another. Not only will it be easier, but it will also be safer. If you have boxes of different sizes, then you may end up with one in the middle that ends up collapsing under the pressure put on it by the ones on top of it. This can cause the whole stack of boxes to come down, possibly hurting someone in the process. Also, when you have stacks of boxes that are all the same size, you can read what's labeled on them all easier, so you will be able to find what you're looking for a lot faster.

You should use packing tape

When you are putting the boxes together, you should use tape and put them together following the diagram many boxes have printed on them. You don't want to fold the boxes to put them together by using the method of tucking corners, because this will create much weaker boxes. When you use packing tape and do it correctly, you will end up with much stronger boxes that will even last longer. You also want to tape the boxes closed after you pack each one. By making sure the boxes are sealed all the way, you can also prevent things like dust and pests from getting inside the boxes.

You should label all the boxes

Other things you may be able to buy at the storage facility are labels and markers. You want to label every single box by placing the labels in the center of the boxes' sides. Then, use a permanent marker to clearly write in large print what's in each box. You may want to give each box a letter and number, then write the contents on paper, creating an efficient inventorying system that helps you find all your things easily.
